3D model checker for product pages
Drop in a 3D model and see whether it is ready for your product page, and what each result means for a shopper on a phone. Add the USDZ and the checker looks at the iPhone AR file too. The file is read in your browser and never leaves your computer.

A GLB or glTF file, and its USDZ for iPhone AR if you have one. The file is read in your browser and never uploaded.

What it checks
What the checker looks at
Google's limits come from its Merchant Center help and its documentation for AR on Android, and the USDZ rules from the format's published specification. The other marks are our own, from the models we build for product pages.
File size
A product page model has to arrive over a mobile connection. We build ours to about 1 to 5 MB, and the checker marks up to 6 MB as fine. Google recommends 10 MB at most for AR on Android and for 3D in Search, where 15 MB is the limit.
Detail
Every 3D model is built from small flat triangles. A model straight from CAD can have millions. Google suggests about 100,000 at most for AR on Android, and a chair often needs far fewer.
Separate parts
Files from manufacturers and CAD are often made of hundreds of separate parts. A phone draws each one on its own, so we merge them into a few per material.
Textures
Textures are the images that give a surface its colour, grain and weave. Google recommends at most 2,048 pixels across for AR on Android, which is enough on a phone. For 3D in Search, it recommends 4K at most and accepts up to 8K.
Real-world size
AR stands the product in the room at the size the file gives it. A file made in the wrong unit, centimetres instead of metres for example, shows the product 100 or 1,000 times too big or too small.
Compression
The shape of a model can be stored compressed, for example with Draco. That part of the file then shrinks several times over and looks the same. Textures are often the larger part and are sized separately.
Materials
Google recommends 10 materials at most for AR on Android, all of the standard type that viewers read. Files that use an older type can show the wrong colours.
Colour and material options
When one file holds several fabrics or colours, a configurator can switch between them on the page without loading a new model.
iPhone AR file
AR on iPhone opens a USDZ file made from the same model. A USDZ has to be packed in a fixed way: uncompressed, each part starting on a 64-byte boundary, the scene first. Otherwise the iPhone does not open it.
3D in Google Search
Google can show products in 3D in Search through Merchant Center, for products sold in the US. It takes glTF or GLB files of up to 15 MB with textures up to 8K, and reviews each model, which can take up to two weeks.
More on each point: GLB, USDZ, polygon count, Draco compression and 3D products in Google Search.
Sources: Google, Scene Viewer (AR on Android), Google Merchant Center, 3D models and the OpenUSD USDZ specification.
If your model needs work
We fix the model or build a new one
Models from manufacturers or CAD are often too heavy for a product page, or come without an iPhone AR file. We rebuild them so they pass these checks. Then we host them and put the viewer on your product page.
Built to load fast
We optimise or rebuild the model to about 1 to 5 MB, with the shape compressed and the textures sized for phones, so it opens quickly on a mobile product page.
AR on iPhone and Android
From the same model we make the GLB for Android and Google and the USDZ for iPhone, both at the product's real size.
On your page with one line of code
We host the models, and the viewer goes on your product page with one line of code, on Shopify, Shopware, Magento, WooCommerce or your own build.
A 3D viewer with AR for your catalogue is on our Basic plan: from $10 per product a month, for 100 products or more on a 12-month term. The model, hosting, updates and setup on your page are included. The plans are on the prices page, and your first product is free.
