USDZ

USDZ is a packaged form of Pixar's Universal Scene Description, adopted by Apple as the format for AR on iOS. When a shopper on an iPhone taps View in AR, the page hands the phone a USDZ file and AR Quick Look opens it in the room.

It carries the same content as a GLB, geometry, materials and textures, but the two are not interchangeable, so any product that should work in AR on both platforms needs both files. Pipelines export them from one source model so they never disagree about size or colour.

A USDZ can also carry a price and a buy button through Apple Pay, which few retailers use but which exists.
