Modular configurator
A configurator for products assembled from repeating units, such as sectional sofas, shelving and kitchens.
A modular configurator handles products that are built from units rather than chosen from options. A sectional sofa is the classic case: corner pieces, seats, chaises and armrests that connect in many orders, each combination a different product with a different price and footprint.
The difficult part is not the drawing but the rules. Which pieces can attach to which, on which side, in which orientation; how the total width changes; what the shipment contains. A good modular configurator encodes those rules so the customer can only build something the factory can make, then shows the result in 3D and, on a phone, in the customer's room at the assembled size.
Modular products are where AR earns the most, because the assembled size is exactly what nobody can picture from a photo.
