Making modular sofas easier to understand online

Modular 3D solution

Overview:

For Sweef, the challenge was not only to showcase a modular sofa in a visually strong way, but to make a complex product feel easier to understand during the buying journey. With many possible combinations, layouts, and fabric choices, the online experience needed to do more than inspire. It had to guide.

Sweef had already built internal 3D resources for the product, but needed a partner that could turn that foundation into a customer-facing experience. That is where CharpstAR came in - helping transform existing 3D assets into a modular digital setup designed to make the sofa easier to explore, configure, and understand online.

The challenge

A modular sofa gives customers more freedom, but it also creates more complexity. The more variations a product has, the harder it becomes to present clearly through static product content alone. Customers need help understanding what is possible, how different pieces relate to each other, and what the final solution actually looks like.

For Sweef, the goal was to simplify that complexity without losing the premium feeling of the brand. The digital experience needed to feel intuitive, visually clear, and aligned with how customers actually make decisions when buying furniture online.

Our approach

CharpstAR built on Sweef's internal 3D work and added the modular capabilities needed to make the experience work in practice. Instead of treating each version of the sofa as separate content, the product could now be presented as a flexible system, making it easier for customers to understand the range of possible combinations.

This approach created a clearer bridge between product complexity and customer usability. Rather than overwhelming the customer with choices, the experience helped structure them.

Our collaboration with CharpstAR is shaped by their hands-on approach and ability to make things happen. They meet ideas with openness and challenges with a mindset focused on solving, improving, and building together.

No idea feels too ambitious to explore. It is a partnership grounded in action, curiosity, and a shared drive to keep pushing what is possible.

Why the solution mattered

For a variation-heavy product like a modular sofa, the value of 3D is not only visual. It also supports a better buying journey. When the product is presented in a more interactive and logical way, customers gain a clearer understanding of the offering, and the business gains a more scalable way to present complexity online.

For Sweef, this meant turning existing internal 3D resources into something more commercially useful - a digital experience that helped customers navigate combinations more naturally and engage with the product with greater confidence.

WebAR for Product Visualization

WebAR is also important to allow shoppers to place products in their space, understand scale and fit instantly, and evaluate how items look in real-world context before purchasing. This removes uncertainty and helps customers make faster, more confident decisions.

The Result

The result was a clearer and more natural way to present the sofa online.

By combining Sweef's own 3D foundation with CharpstAR's modular capabilities, the product experience became easier to understand, easier to interact with, and better suited to a product with many possible variations.

Instead of letting complexity become a barrier, the solution helped turn it into part of the value.

‘’ For us, the value was in making a complex modular product feel simple for the customer. We already had internal 3D resources, but CharpstAR helped turn that into an online experience that was much easier to understand and interact with. ‘’
