Shopware configurator

A 3D product configurator for your Shopware shop

Your customers turn the product around in 3D and see each fabric and colour on your Shopware product page. When they add it to the basket, it goes in as the matching variant from your shop, with its own price and product number. We build the configurator from your files and help you or your agency add it to your theme.

Benefits

Why add a 3D configurator to your Shopware shop?

Shopware is good at variants: each combination of properties gets its own product number and stock, and can have its own price. But each one also needs photos. The chair above comes in 10 fabrics and 4 frames, up to 40 variants, and few shops photograph every one. A customer who wants it in navy may only have a photo of the black one to go on.

Customers see the variant they order

Every fabric and frame shows on the same 3D model, from all sides and up close. Nobody has to picture a navy chair from a photo of the black one, so fewer customers leave the page unsure and fewer write in to ask how a colour looks.

Higher order value from upgrades

Premium fabrics and finishes show their surcharge next to the option, and the customer sees the upgrade on the product before deciding what it is worth to them.

Fewer wrong orders and returns

Customers check the colour, the size and the delivery time before they order. With View in AR on a phone they can stand the product in their room at its real size. If it is too big or the blue is wrong, they find out before ordering instead of after delivery.

No photo shoot for every variant

One 3D model shows every combination, so a new fabric means an update to the model instead of a new photo shoot.

Less quoting by hand

For modular and made-to-measure ranges, the configurator only offers combinations that can be built and prices each one. Customers get the price on the page, and fewer of them ask your team for a quote by email.

How it works

How the configurator works with Shopware

  1. 01

    In the product image gallery

The configurator sits on the Shopware product detail page, in the image gallery. It goes into your theme as a short script and one element in the product page template, and we send the code and help you or your agency place it. The 3D models load from our servers, so nothing large is stored in your Shopware media.

  2. 02

    Linked to your variants

Shopware builds variants from properties such as fabric and frame colour. We link the 3D model to your property values, so whichever fabric and frame the customer picks on your product page, the model shows that exact variant from every angle. The price, stock and product number stay the ones you keep in Shopware, and that variant goes into the basket.

  3. 03

Large ranges as one basket line

Some ranges have more combinations than anyone would create as variants, such as modular sofas or products made to measure. There the configurator works out the price, and the configuration goes into the basket as one line with the chosen options and their codes. Shopware prices basket lines itself, so this needs a small extension in your shop, which we set up per range as part of the quote.

What reaches the Shopware basket

The variant arrives in the basket like any other Shopware product, so checkout, stock and your order emails work as they do today.

Shopware's 3D viewer

Shopware's own 3D viewer or a configurator?

Built into Shopware

The 3D viewer

Since Shopware 6.5.8 (January 2024) you can upload a 3D file to a product and show it on the product page, and in some Shopware plans in AR. Each file shows one product or one variant, so a chair in 40 variants means 40 files for you to make and keep up to date. It suits products sold in one finish.

From CharpstAR

A 3D configurator

One model holds every fabric, colour and finish and shows whichever variant the customer picks. We build and host it and link it to your variants. When you add a fabric, we add it to the model. It is made for products sold in many variants.

What it costs

What a Shopware configurator costs

Colour and material configurators have a list price on the Value plan, which includes the 3D model, hosting, updates and the implementation on your Shopware page. Modular and made-to-measure ranges have more rules and need the basket extension, so we quote them per range. The first product with colour and material options is free.

How we build it

The timeline and what we need from you

  1. Day 1

    You send

A link to the product in your Shopware shop and its variants as you sell them, with prices.

From you: The 3D files, drawings or photos you have. CAD files help but are not required.

  2. 1 working day

    We answer

We tell you which kind of configurator the product needs and what it costs. The first product with colour and material options is free.

  3. Week 1

    We build the model

We build the 3D model from your files, match each fabric and finish to your samples or photos, and check the measurements against your drawing.

From you: Material samples or close photos of the fabrics and finishes.

  4. Week 2

    We link your variants

We link each fabric and finish in the model to its property value in Shopware, and you test the configurator on a product page in your staging shop.

From you: A test product or a staging shop, and a contact at your agency if it looks after the theme.

  5. Live

    In your shop

The code goes into your theme and customers order your variants as before. When you add a fabric in Shopware, send us a sample or a close photo and we add it to the model.

Clients

From our clients

Three clients on the 3D models and configurators we built for their shops. On a Shopware shop the model is built the same way, and we link it to your variants.
