Real-time 3D
Drawing a 3D model live on the shopper's device, many times a second, so it can be turned and configured.
Real-time 3D is what a web viewer, a configurator and an AR scene do: they compute each frame as the shopper moves the model, on the phone or computer in front of them, fast enough to feel instant. That is the opposite of rendering, where a single image is computed slowly on a powerful machine for maximum quality.
The constraint is the device. A phone has a fraction of the power of a render farm, so real-time models are optimised, materials are simplified where the eye cannot tell, and the viewer does clever things with pre-computed lighting to look richer than it is.
For e-commerce, real-time 3D is the whole point: the shopper controls the view, and the same model serves the viewer, the configurator and AR.
